答： whereby 是副詞，意思是：由此，從而；借以 (by which way ormethod; by
means of which)。
whereby主要有兩個用法：
1）用于引導定語從句 whereby 是關系副詞，相當于 by which 或 by means of which,
在定語從句中方式狀語。
例如：
There was no other waywhereby they could be saved. （= by which they could
be saved.
當時沒有他們可以藉此獲救的其他方法。
The two colleges have a reciprocal arrangementwherebystudents from one college
can attend classes at the other.
